1. Why is Maersk’s business model “complex”?

​

The Maersk´s Business Model is complex because of its nature, it is a large company in the shipping industry, the company moves high volumes of Containers with goods and to operate in this sector many parts are involved. The most difficult thing for Maersk is the containerization. This type of business requires innovation and digital transformation but nowadays it is very difficult due to the diverse of documentation and the laws in each country.

 

 

 

 

 

2. What role do IoT sensors play in Maersk’s systems?

Tue company is using sensors on every container to continuously monitor its location, and movement, along with the temperature and humidity of its contents for reefers.

 

 

 

 

3. Why is tracking empty containers so important to efficient operations?

​

It is useful because it helps to know the containers that are ready to be deployed, helping to the efficiency and it can also reduce fuel consumption of its fleet by optimizing voyage routing, optimize the utilization of its containers.

 

 

 

 

 

4. What is the “data driven culture” that Maersk is trying to strengthen?

​

Because they want to offer a convenient service like UPS and FedEx. 

Maersk is looking for a new business opportunity where clients can reserve their own containers. There is also another improvement that will enable the shipping customer to access the system to track the goods and shipping plans.

5. Why does Maersk want to give their customers access to their system?

​

Changing the culture involves in part becoming a digital services company with a customer-friendly system, allowing reduce the waste of time, deliver an efficient service, facilitating the operations and many other benefits.
